Primary English Tuition
Children progress at different rates; learning isn’t linear. Some children seem to pick up reading overnight whereas for others it can be a slower process. Many are late starters. Research shows that initiative, creativity, motivation and a certain ‘twinkle in the eye’ can be better indicators of cleverness than who has the hardest reading book in their book bag. So do try and relax, listen to your child read as often as you can and resist the urge to push them on to harder books too quickly. We’re here to support your child with their reading, writing, spelling, comprehension and hand-writing. The curriculum really is demanding; the Welsh Government Reading Test for Year 2 children a couple of years ago was nineteen pages long! It is a big ask of our youngsters; we’re only a phone call away.
Transition to High School
When your child moves up to high school they’ve certainly got plenty to contend with. The buildings are massive, perhaps they are catching buses independently for the first time, they are in so many different rooms with lots of new faces – I could go on – it can all be a bit daunting. At Inspire Tuition we understand that this is a nerve-wracking time for parents and children and they need sound literacy skills to cope. The National Literacy Framework that schools are now having to implement means that literacy is a key priority in schools and the required standards are high. Your child may need support in reading and understanding a variety of different types of writing; both fiction and non-fiction (in an enjoyable way). Perhaps your child could also benefit from help in improving writing skills in different ways such as improving vocabulary, learning different sentence structures and how to write in detail. Let our English Tutors help.

GCSE English Tuition
GCSE English is one of the most important exams your child will ever sit (no pressure then!) and they are probably sitting 10 other GCSEs too – so take the pressure of this subject by letting us help them prepare. When it comes to tuition for English GCSE we focus heavily on exam skills. Your child needs to understand how crucial timing is. All too frequently they run out of time or rush part of the paper and fail to go into sufficient depth. Now that coursework has been minimised, all the focus is on the exams. It’s important then that students feel confident with their ability to handle unseen texts and comment on them. Practice is the key, we will do a lot of past paper practice with your child and mark them in line with WJEC examiner reports so that all of our students know exactly where they are at in terms of the grade they are striving for. We support students so that they are able to meet all of the WJEC assessment objectives (analysing language, comparing texts and understanding context).
Real Results.
“I realised my child needed to develop more with extra challenges set forth. In school, I was not happy with the kind of homework she was getting as she needed a big push in English and maths. She has shown remarkable improvement and has been praised for her learning skills in school. The fact that she is learning Year 6 work while she is still in Year 5 and her school has recommended her to go for Year 7 next year straightaway. I would recommend Inspire Tuition as Kerry takes personal care in the development of every child, giving positive and accurate feedback.”
“We enrolled our son when he went up to the Juniors because he was behind for his age group with his reading and writing. We are are very pleased with our son’s test results for last year as he is now ABOVE his age group for his reading and writing. Our son really enjoys going to the lesson and this is testament to Kerry’s friendly and easy going approach to learning. We are both extremely pleased with our son’s progress.
“Olivia started at the beginning of the year with a massive lack of confidence. She has worked well with Kerry who encourages Olivia to try hard and makes her believe in herself – to the point where she has gone from strength to strength getting results she thought were impossible. She has been doing past papers and over one month has gone from 40% to 87%!”
